Getting Your Child Back

These are the statements we hear most frequently from parents in their first semester at The Joy School:

“I feel like I have my child back!”

“She’s a completely different child!”

“It’s helped our whole family!”

Many children who we meet during the admissions process are defeated. Children as young as six years old have described themselves as “stupid” or “not very good at school”.

At The Joy School, we know success breeds success. For that reason, we make curricular and class placement decisions based on the needs of the students rather than simply by age or grade level. Confidence based on competence changes students’ entire view of themselves and their potential.

When students are set up for success, they begin to see themselves as capable learners, become comfortable asking for help, and learn to think of themselves in terms of their strengths rather than their weaknesses or diagnoses.

It has been said that parents are only as happy as their unhappiest child. Watching a child struggle is often much harder on the parents than it is on the child, especially when parents don't know how to help. The relief parents feel when their child is finally happy and thriving in school is equal to, if not greater than, the joy children feel at The Joy School.
