Happy Thanksgiving from The Joy School!
BY RACHEL WILLIAMS Dean of Faculty
Anyone who knows me well knows gratitude is a core theme in my life and something I try to share and utilize for personal well-being and connection. I am committed to sharing my gratitude with others when I recognize it, and I cherish it when others share it with me. I keep a gratitude notebook in my office filled with thank you notes and emails I've received. When days are harder or I veer from my purpose, these notes bring me joy and peace, and like a compass point me in the right direction. So, in the spirit of practicing gratitude, here are some things I am thankful for today.
-
Cats – specifically the way they purr. Holding a purring cat is THE BEST stress reducer I know of in this world.
-
Nachos – any kind. I love them so much. Who thought of it? I don’t know, but I would like to thank them.
-
Music. My entire life music has been a source of joy, comfort, connection, and fun. I can’t imagine my life without it.
-
The Joy School. All these years later I am still pinching myself that every day when I come to work I am in a position to make a difference in the lives of others. Not only do I get fulfilled by making a living, but I am filled daily with a greater purpose here.
-
My office mates are the most amazing humans. They challenge me, make me laugh, hold me accountable, and lift me up. I walk into my office every day grateful for their partnership.
I have limited myself to a list of five because as I started writing, I realized the list has the potential to go on for a long time. Of course, that too is a blessing which I do not take lightly.
On behalf of The Joy School faculty and staff, Happy Thanksgiving! May your week be filled with gratitude and joy as we all remember just how much we have to be thankful for this year.
