COVID-19 In-Person Tutoring Policy

  • In-person tutoring off campus may be provided by tutors, but The Joy School cannot guarantee that tutors will be able to maintain six feet of social distance while tutoring.

  • Tutors must cover their nose and mouth during a tutoring sessions and should sanitize or wash their hands before and after a tutoring session.

  • All tutoring clients (and members of their household) must be able to answer NO to the following questions before meeting with their Joy School tutor:
    • Have you, your child, or anyone in the household had close contact with a person confirmed to have COVID-19 in the last 30 days?
    • Does anyone in the home have a fever, sore throat, or cough, chills, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or any other symptom that might be associated with COVID-19?
    • Clients should provide a covering for the nose and mouth of anyone above the age of two in the household who will be present in the room with the teacher.
  • Joy School tutors must be able to answer NO to the following questions before providing tutoring services to clients:
    • Have you or anyone in the household had close contact with a person confirmed to have the coronavirus in the last 30 days?
    • Do you or anyone in your home have a fever, sore throat, or cough , chills, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or any other symptom that might be associated with COVID-19?


The Joy School offers private academic tutoring for students in kindergarten through the eighth grade.

Who We Serve

Tutoring is available for students who may struggle with learning differences including:

  • dyslexia
  • dysgraphia
  • dyscalculia
  • social pragmatic disorders
  • language delays
  • and more

These services are available for current and prospective students, as well as students from other schools. Our mission is to provide remedial instruction and academic support for students having difficulty in their current school placements, or those who simply need help maintaining their current skills.

About Our Tutors

Our academic tutors are current TJS teachers who are trained in multi-sensory instructional methods for all subjects, including but not limited to reading, decoding, comprehension, spelling, writing and composition, grammar, handwriting, math, spatial awareness and phonological awareness.
