Lower School Curriculum

Grouping and teaching students based on the type of instruction they need allows each teacher to have a slightly different classroom emphasis or approach.

The curriculum for Kindergarten through Fifth Grade at The Joy School emphasizes foundational academic and social growth. Students build essential skills in literacy, math, science, social studies, visual art, and technology while cultivating executive functioning abilities such as organization and accountability. Certified Speech-Language Pathologists lead the Language and Cognitive Development class for all lower school students. Each grade level progressively develops students' abilities to set goals, reflect on their learning, and advocate for their needs.
