OUR SCHOOL

The Joy School is a place where children with learning differences rediscover their love of learning and build the skills and confidence needed to thrive both academically and socially.

By offering small class sizes, adaptable teaching strategies, and a mission-driven approach focused on transitioning students to mainstream schools, The Joy School empowers students and families to transform challenges into opportunities for lifelong success.

How School Should Be

At The Joy School, we strive to model How School Should Be for everyone.

  • We believe the right school can make all the difference for a child, especially those with learning differences.
  • We believe school should be fun, safe, and supportive for students, families, and faculty.
  • We believe students should be able to ask questions, learn from mistakes, and be embraced and appreciated for who they are.
  • We believe parents and families should be able to share challenges without fear of judgment, learn how best to support their child, and find other families who understand their journey.
  • We believe faculty and staff should be supported both as professionals and as people, be provided continuous training and opportunities for growth, and trusted to use their professional judgment to make decisions for students.
  • We believe relationships are the job.

Our Name

We cultivate joy. It’s not just in our name—it’s in everything we do. We are intentional about making school a joyful place—whether through themed dress up days, Friday morning dance parties, disco balls in the activity center, or simply being generous with hugs and high fives, we want The Joy School to be a place where every child—every person!—feels seen, valued, and welcome.
